GHUL
About me
I’m a long-time Linux user and hardware tinkerer from Germany, focused on gaming, performance analysis, and system stability on Linux.
My main interest lies in understanding why things break — not just fixing symptoms. I spend a lot of time digging through kernel logs, systemd journals, GPU driver behavior, and performance metrics, especially on Arch-based systems.
I currently run EndeavourOS / Arch Linux on multiple machines and prefer solutions that are:
- transparent
- reproducible
- upstream-friendly
I’m not afraid of kernels, logs, or the command line — in fact, that’s where I’m most comfortable.
Hardware & Platforms
Typical systems I work with:
- CPU: AMD Ryzen (Zen / Zen+) Intel i7
- GPU: AMD Radeon (RDNA / RDNA3) Nvidia RTX 2060 Super
- Mainboard: MSI / Gigabyte
- Desktop: X11 (Cinnamon or lightweight WMs, depending on the machine)
I mostly game on Linux using Steam + Proton, and I’m especially interested in:
- GPU hangs / resets
- amdgpu driver behavior
- Mesa / RADV / VKD3D issues
- kernel regressions and performance changes
Projects & Interests
I’m the creator of GHUL – Gaming Hardware Using Linux, a personal open-source project focused on:
- benchmarking Linux gaming systems
- stress testing CPU/GPU/RAM
- collecting reproducible performance data
- correlating crashes with kernel and driver logs
The goal is not chasing leaderboard numbers, but understanding hardware behavior on Linux under real gaming workloads.
Other interests include:
- performance tuning
- cooling and power delivery
- open hardware & open software
- reproducible system setups
Philosophy
I strongly prefer:
- open documentation over vendor tools
- logs over guesswork
- fixing root causes instead of rebooting until it works
I’m here to learn, share findings, and help improve Linux gaming — especially where things still go wrong.
Why EndeavourOS
EndeavourOS gives me:
- Arch Linux without unnecessary friction
- fast access to upstream changes
- a community that understands logs, not just screenshots
That makes it the perfect environment for debugging, testing, and learning.
