ZEN Browser: I've Learned To Appreciate It

Regardless until I feel secure about it I will keep it the way I have it now thank you.

I’ve learned to appreciate my Zen too. I usually browse with my mind when I’m Zen!

From Beta 1.7.5b. I don’t understand how this is an improvement, at least it can be reversed.

I read this whole thread but don’t see the niche.

LibreWolf is about security.
Firefox OOTB has no regard for security whatsoever and it’s ready for sound browsing.
One of the Japanses creators of Floorp said security was not their thing, a stylish browser was (and a beautiful inventive browser it is.)

Three forks ^, three distinct ‘deals.’
What’s Zen’s deal, or niche? The chatter around Zen is exciting to hear. But I’m just not able to size it up.
Thanks. edit/sp

I wouldn’t exactly agree with that assessment.

I have never used Firefox stock; it’s a porous sieve. I have to immediately strap it all down in settings then kill pocket and google garbage, fpi, fingerprinting etc etc etc in about:config for about 10-15 minutes, then I’m ready to rock.
I can’t be the only one who makes it secure before they use it?

In fact the only time I use a stock Firefox is when I’m live chrooting or looking at isos…and even then I change the search engine from Googs to DDG so I guess I have never used it stock?

Unless my brain is dead wrong (it’s dead wrong on occasion) running bone stock Firefox is identical to using bone stock Chrome. At least with Firefox they give you the chance to lock it down before you use it.

I just use ublock origin but I don’t believe any other browser is significantly better.

Why dont you just use a security/privacy enhanced user.js like this one:

How do you install it? It’s a script?

There are detailed instructions if you follow the link.

Using arkenfox user.js for a long time combined with ublockOrigin. Firefox runs smooth

Okay i see now after looking at multiple links. They make it so difficult. :confounded:

Go to the wikilink. Everything is described very well

I just use ublockorigin with Firefox. Honestly I’ve never understood the browser culture in linux along with a lot of other things in linux. I think Firefox is a great browser and maybe so are others but it’s not a sieve. It’s as good as any and sure maybe some are better and you can make them more privacy security focused but I tend to not trust a lot of add-ons or extensions and things more so than not trusting Firefox. :person_shrugging:

I do know that arkenfox/user.js is good. But just never bothered trying to set it up.

Just create a new user profile, name it arkenfox and add the user.js. Then start with firefox -p and select.

Is user.js my user name as user?

Edit: Honestly i really don’t understand their instructions. Just like Arch wiki they leave way too much information out. They think everyone just knows how to do it.

Edit: Heck I don’t even know how to create a new profile.

Enter about:profile in the address line. There you can create new ones and also open the corresponding folder.

Then downlaod the user.jsfrom their github and copy the arkenfox user.js into your new profile directory. Then run firefox -pand select your new profile. Thats it.
If you are satisfied with everything you should read the article about user-overrides.js.

Okay I might try this … later on. When you create a new profile do i use same name? I don’t know what it asks?

It is up to you which name you will give. I named my simply arkenfox

This is how profile manager looks when i start firefox -p. I have a simple default and arkenfox profile

So i assume you check the box to use this profile always and then you can just launch firefox from it’s icon?

Edit : this is run from the terminal

firefox -p
