Well, look at the evolutionary pressures at hand… Is being smart an advantage when it comes to procreation? Quite the contrary, I see plenty of idiots having lots of children, and smart people not having time for families being busy with their jobs. It seems that at present, natural selection favours stupidity.

This is quite similar to the intro of the movie called “Idiocracy”.
I recommend watching for anyone who’s iq has fallen. This movie is not for intelligent people.

I mean humans haven’t really been subject to natural selection since cities became a thing. We have more social selection than anything.

Adblock is a must. Is for safety. So much crap in ads. Adblock stops a lot of it. Then a good DNS blocker on it and you are ready for the internet!

Honestly i don’t use ad blockers. Have no issues.

Edit: Having said that i am trying ublock origin

I remember a few years ago when shit came in through Spotify. Through their program. Had I not had a DNS blocker, I would have had a virus in my computer. Affected many.

Now Linux is not so much affected yet. But can get there too. But best to be prepared for everything!

Now you can make your most important click in uBlock Origin. You will sabotage many web pages unfortunately. But after a while, you have whitelisted most of it so your pages work again.

Try to keep “Domains connected” as low as you can without destroying the site to.

Then add some block lists:

So I do!

Privacy is not an issue?

Content blockers are not really about the visual hiding of web page advertisements, they are primarily about hindering the collection of your browsing activity through various tracking mechanisms.

That is true, but not seeing/hearing ads is just great as well
An ad-blocker by itself is not really enough to prevent tracking, that’s where things like NoScript or uMatrix come in.

I just find ad blockers to be problematic. I don’t have any issues with my normal browsing using Firefox. That is what i care about. How the computer responds! When i click on something it better open immediately! Ads cause problems. Am i being tracked. I’m sure i am on loads of websites. But if the computer is working the way i want it too that is more my concern. No i don’t like being tracked and i do care about privacy but i can’t rid the Internet of these blood suckers.

I think it will respond even faster with an ad-blocker
Unless you have a trillion items in your blocklists…

I use a system wide blocker in /etc/hosts and privacy badger in my browser. No pop ups or ads, must be doing something right. Page load up times improved considerable.

I am using ublock origin now. Do i know how it works? Not really. Thought i’d try it. I have Fibre_optic right to the inside of my home so it’s fast. I doubt i’m going to notice it.

What about pie hole?

I’m sure you will find many people here who love Pi-Hole
I haven’t tried it yet because I don’t have a Raspi…

As for uBlock, you don’t have to do much, just select your blocklists in the settings dashboard. It comes with a default selection but it is rather light.

That’s not fast:

Speedtest
