Xfce Screen locker prevents suspend

Everything has been working well with EndeavourOS for me in the past month.
After a few updates between yesterday and today, I have found out that screen locking function has broken.
Whenever I put the system to sleep, the screen turns off but the computer won’t sleep - and upon unlock, the following message pops up:

None of the screen lock tools ran successfully, the screen will not be locked.
Do you still want to suspend the system?

I tried downgrading xfce4-power-manager to version xfce4-power-manager-1.6.6-1, but unfortunately that has sorted no effect.
Please let me know if you have any idea as to how this could be troubleshooted!
Thank you in advance!!

I do not know if the power manager is at fault here, however the xfce4-power-manager-1.6.6-1 is the newest version, that was released a couple of days ago. To downgrade go to the 1.6.5-2 version

Thank you for pointing that out, it was late and I got confused.
Since I didn’t have much time on my hands to troubleshoot it much further (nor was too keen on post-poning), I took the chance to circumvent the problem and try an alternative screen locker that had caught my eye.
I disable the screensaver and lock-related services, installed slock and configured it following these instructions.
It really suits my taste and I think I will not go back
