Will FS2020 fly (pun intended) on Linux?

I’m looking forward to the release of MS FS2020 later in August, but as I have no experience of gaming on Linux (I’m running EOS) I like to hear what you think about the possibility to run this on Linux…?

Maybe I should look into a dual boot setup with Windows to be on the safe side (FS2020 is developed by MS after all)?

I doubt it, buuuuut…
I assume it’s Microsoft Store only, right?

Then you can :pirate_flag: it and launch on Wine for sure (probably some time needed for Wine to catch up if it won’t launch from 1st day).

I’ve done that with couple of games before, it works :upside_down_face:

Basically the idea is always:

  • Can you copy files to Wine (if installer / whatever store like M$ doesn’t work)?
  • Can you bypass DRM (in case it doesn’t work as is, and Microsoft store surely won’t)?

If so - you’re good to go in 99% of times

Well, that’s safest route if you really want it immediately, but in case you’re ok with :pirate_flag: solutions and some tinkering perhaps, maybe some wait time…I’m pretty sure you’ll be able to use it on Linux.

Oh, and also note that it’s highly unlikely that anything multiplayer related will work with bypassed DRM, so in case you need it - dual boot is only way…Unless it will be out on Steam / EPIC store or something like that which works on Linux / Wine!

P.S. Note, that i don’t encourage :pirate_flag:, you can buy the game and support devs that you like, as well as still use those to bypass dirty DRM solutions :upside_down_face:

It’s coming to steam as well, page is up for pre-ordering.

The fact that Death Stranding which is a DX12 only title is silver on ProtonDB ( https://www.protondb.com/app/1190460 ) means that it isn’t out of the realms of possibility.

Even Halo MCC is Gold ( https://www.protondb.com/app/976730 )
