Which privacy browser?

and which search engine are you using?
I’m using often

I used to use startpage until they were acquired by System1.

As for whether that actually creates a privacy issue or not, time will tell.

Wasn’t it compromised recently?
I don’t remember details, but heard that there was a problem with it…

I try to use Duck duck go, but it’s still not as good as Google sometimes…So i bounce between 2 :unamused:

in my opinon startpage is the best compromise, you get google search results
with some more privacy

It not best for privacy :face_with_raised_eyebrow: I enjoy using

which search engine are you using now?

Well, in my experience startpage gives pretty good results, but pretty similar to ddg, still far behind Google which is sad, but understandable…

I am using ddg at the moment but startpage provided much better search results for me.

startpage gets their results from google while ddg results come mostly from bing.

I suppose that ddg is not this one: :see_no_evil:

It still has the same founder/creator though, and for now I am giving him the benefit of the doubt. His release notes include patches on security and more that go beyond Firefox. Waterfox is what I use, and love. Also, it works with Plasma’s Global menu system out of the box, something Firefox does not do.

I have done a lot of search tests trying to find the best alternative, and Startpage has the best, closest matched, results. DDG has the worst algorithms, ever. I just can’t with that one.

I am pretty sure that the company that bought waterfox is the same company that bought startpage.

Did waterfox the speed of security patches? Last I checked it so far behind on patches it wasn’t worth looking at.

They release patches very regularly, at least on the ‘current’ version. I don’t use the legacy version, so can’t speak to that.

Nice article on our Discovery magazine.

I’ve been using startpage for a year as my main search engine, up until a few months back when i found out it’s been acquired by a marketing company.
Using ddg currently, although i don’t completely trust it either. I have to search though: The truth is out there an needs to be found. So ddg it is ‘til something better comes along.

Same here, went from DDG to StartPage because it provides better search quality and European servers.
Back to DDG after the “stealth” acquisition by System1 which completely destroyed my trust in StartPage.

This is an older topic started in May, but I am interested what is the best option for a privacy browser. I get this [top left corner message] and I don’t even have a facebok account maybe opened the page once before from a link. using at the moment firefox, but advice for a another privacy browser is welcome.

post edit comment: I am aware that this has nothing to do with endeavouros, nor I am blaming the forum here for spying or anything similar, I mean it is a public forum not sure why anyone would care to spy. same warning appears on other sites even Apple, I shared this since the info is from the same forum.

In my opinion Firefox is the only real option for a privacy focused browser. The containers feature is a privacy game changer and something nobody else has.

That is the facebook container doing it’s job and protecting your privacy. It blocks anything related to facebook. For example, if a site has a facebook like button or similar it gets blocked.

In this case, it is probably blocking the share on facebook button which is not visible so it puts the warning in the corner.
