To confirm: I certainly wasn’t saying that you need one.
There’s a thread I’ve opened: No Privacy Means No Democracy
I think if you listen to all the videos posted there, they may enlighten you on what I’m saying.
Polarising comments like the ones below are generally wrong (meaning illogical) and are furthermore bad for human rights.
- VPN users are either whistle-blowers or criminals.
- I don’t care about privacy because I have nothing to hide.
- I’ve already given up so much data in the past, so trying to be private now is useless.
- Encryption is only needed if you are sharing illegal content or if it’s for business.
- Wanting online privacy is just a form of paranoia or signs of a mental disorder.
- Privacy enthusiasts are all conspiracy theorists.
All of these criminalise the right to privacy for individuals.
In one of the videos, it is mentioned how people will have the contradictory views of:
- privacy doesn’t exist
- but I will send this “private” DM to my spouse that shows my bank account password
How does that even make sense? This is not a “both things can be true” view to have.
PS: These are example comments, not necessarily said by you, but they circulate the internet and in-person conversations.
