What were you watching yesterday night?

It’s a science fiction show in the tradition of Star Trek. It was initially advertised as a comedy. But it’s not, really. There are funny moments in the show. More than one would see in Star Trek. But Seth MacFarlane is a massive Star Trek fan. It was his way of attempting to create something Trek-like and offer some comedic moments while still telling serious stories.

Examples:

Serious dramatic scenes:

The Maklan race treat females as inferior, “mistakes” of nature…

The scene is self explanatory…

Comedic scenes:

The scene is self explanatory…

Also, self explanatory…

I’m going to watch all these at work while trying to appear busy! thanks for the context, Spellbinder. loosely ‘canonical’ I would say from your description but I will watch them all. thanks!

I wouldn’t even say that much. Because it’s not Star Trek. Another universe altogether.

EDIT:
Like Babylon 5 isn’t Star Trek.

30ish years ago, a neighbor and I would play Madden football several times a week on the Sega Genesis. This turned into “tournaments” with several other neighbors. Madden Football was THE video game. The good ol’ days, for sure. Looking forward to seeing this four-part docuseries.

Watched the second episode of Dune : Prophecy yesterday. And I’ve to say: I pretty much prefer the visual aesthetics and the vibe Denis Villeneuve was able to achieve in both of his movies up so far. In the movies the Bene Gesserit appeared mystical and unapproachable. And that doesn’t translate to the series. Not sure if I will continue watching this.

Not sure what that has to do with Madden Football, but OK. :+1:

Not related, I’ve just developed the bad habit to use the post reply button… and not the topic reply button at the bottom of the thread which I should have used.
