Colorado is nicknamed "The Centennial State " because it became the 38th state of the United States in 1876 (one hundred years after the signing of the Declaration of Independence ).
Centennial is a novel by American author James A. Michener, published in 1974. The book Centennial is based on the history of Colorado, with the names changed to protect the innocent kind of thing. Michener did extensive research on the history of Colorado, so it is mostly very close to what happened.
In the early eighties Centennial was made into a mini-series for TV, which was later released on DVD. There are six DVDs with a total run time of just under 22 hours. Today I watched the first episode. Hey, watching Centennial and ISO testing is my life during lockdown.
Well, not yesterday, just now and the little boy in me has awoken again, sitting almost in the television watching the Space shuttle and now as a 46 year old boy Iâm feeling the same excitement:
I watched the launch and most of the mission yesterday, then was up at 5.30am local time to watch the approach and docking. I remember watching all of the Apollo missions, Skylab and more than a few of the shuttle missions (I lived just south of Cape Canaveral when I was little.)
Like @Bryanpwo, I felt like a kid again, too. I just have an extra 13 years to regressâŚ
