I am too old for hand helds but I appreciate what Valve has done to improve linux gaming.
I meant the internal speakers.
Youâre never too old for handhelds. But Iâm glad thereâs other options besidesw the huge bulky Steam Deck.
How ironicâŚ
Are you serious? Sure, they want people to use Steam but desktop mode is part of the experience, I just canât see why they would deliberately ruin it.
Why?
CS:GO is the most popular game on Steam by player count and it is a native game made by Valve. They invest in Proton to get everything running on Linux but CS:GO, their dominant game, still has some annoying bugs. But AFAIK they are looking into CS:GO on Linux bugs too.
Yeah, Iâm serious. I think Valve put that in because they had to, to allow other Flatpaks to be installed. But they really donât want people using it. They want Steam to be âtheâ UX. The portal that they control. So they can drive purchases to them. I figure if they DID want people to use another UX they would have included GNOME (which would work great on the touchscreen) rather than KDE (which would be as bad as WIndows on the touchscreen).
If they really wanted people using KDE I also figure theyâd offer more than just flatpacks to install. Mind you, Iâm saying this is what theyâre doing, NOT that what theyâre doing is âgood.â
Thatâs literally the only game I have that wonât launch/work on Linux.
I was playing 2k PGA yesterday and it was fantastic.
Which one did you order? Also do they charge you only when itâs shipped?
The 512 Gb model. I paid a small deposit, once the deck is available they will send an email to pay full price.
Similar to Starlink, but I bailed out of that one. No availability at the moment in my region, they increased prices and pushed the whole thing for a year later.
