@Brtza, I have used so much of EOS instead of “pure” Arch that I no longer can’t differ them from one other. ![]()

haha, I know. Just saying
because in Arch community there sre no other Archis other than Arch, hehe. And EOS is best Arch ,as we all know
When I read this I heard Sam Tucker’s voice from SAMSITE youtube channel ![]()
I would assume ubuntu has the largest support among all the distros out there. It is definitely the most popular. It is the distro that “Sheldon” used right? (that show was stupid by the way). So they can afford to make it “polished” in terms of end user experience. Almost like a “paid” OS. But i don’t like gnome. Stable release schedule also doesn’t work for me.
Is it ? not according to distrowatch
Distrowatch does not show popularity but they simply show the number of times a distribution page has been accessed each day. Nothing more.
Because currently it would mean that CachyOS would be the most used and popular Linux there is.
Sure …secure boot may have been implemented to be used in the UEFI specifications but it is and was a Microsoft thing that never existed previously. It’s not my thing. It’s not supported on EOS but can be implemented by the user. As a home user i see no need for it.
As you might have noticed this was my first post in EOS forum and I have to say I am impressed by the debth of your technical skills. Any OS’s nature has an affinity to religion since it affects our everyday life so profoundly.
With religion comes philosophy. And I have to say you are blessed with both, philosophy and technical skills. So I am looking forward to hang around with you guys.
Btw the fresh installation of EOS is an absolutely must. It runs as fast as never before and I have at least double battery life. Of course we never know if it is the firmware or EOS or both. What struck me the most is the consumption in sleeping mode. It went down to almost nothing.
I am a conspirational tech philosopher myself. So I am looking forward for some interesting discussions.
Not even remotely true. Just like politics keep religion out of the forum. Politics actually has more of a place in a forum than any man made religion does.
Arch and its derivatives are by far the most widely used on Steam, not even counting SteamOS.
Well lets say ubuntu is probably the most known then, if not the most popular, at least for the uninitiated.
That doesn’t mean that Ubuntu is not the most popular or most widely used distro in general.
It’s also the most hated. Ubuntu has a depth of disdain from Linux users that no other distro comes close to.
Ubuntu has a depth of disdain from Linux users that no other distro comes close to.
Among those who hate it. What percentage of the total desktop Linux users?
No idea, but going by Lemmy and Reddit, quite a lot.
Reddit is pretty much an echo chamber. It’s full of angry people, who feed each other and this creates an illusion that something is true even though it is not.
Reddit is something that should not be trusted, not in this matter or others.
My personal experience in these matters is that “the haters” are normally the most vociferous, whatever the object of their hate may be.
Those who like something, go on liking it and about their business.
Just look at the quantity of “hate” GNOME gets, almost on a daily basis on every Linux venue. Do you hear so much from GNOME users how much they love their DE with the same frequency? Yet, it is one of the most popular and widely used desktop environments.
Do you hear so much from GNOME users how much they love their DE with the same frequency?
No. But you do hear from KDE and Xfce users saying how good they are. That speaks volumes to me.
I agree that people like Ubuntu also, you could say it’s the Marmite of distros.
But you do hear from KDE and Xfce users saying how good they are
From xfce users not that much. But from KDE users, oh yeah ![]()
