Hereā€™s a beautiful, sad song, one of my favorites in recent years. I love especially how the lyrics describe the thin line between despair (ā€œjumpā€) and tentative hope (ā€œjump for somethingā€).

Lyrics

Iā€™m ready to be afraid
Iā€™m ready to jump
Iā€™m ready to let you hurt me
If you must

Iā€™m ready to cry
Because I do anyway
When Iā€™m not doing
Anything

I may as well jump
I might as well jump
For something

Oh, forget what you know
And draw me with crayons
Spin around the room
With paint on your hands
See who gets covered
And when you fall down

ā€™Cause youā€™re going to crash anyway
Even if youā€™re stuck, not moving
You can be lulled by insults
Or sharpened by love

So you may as well jump
You might as well jump
For something

Maybe you shouldā€™ve left long ago
But you couldnā€™t bear to let go
Now you say youā€™ve got to
Or youā€™ll never know

You say, ā€œThis dive, I pray, will be the deepest Iā€™ve made
ā€œAnd Iā€™ll come back with everything that I really need
ā€œIā€™ll swim up from the bottom
ā€œHolding my breath ā€™til I release itā€

You may as well jump
You might as well jump
For something
