Your cardio for the day -
The underappreciated PSG soundtrack has been getting stuck in my head a lot lately. MeMeMe! was also made by the same artist, man that was a popular song, the music video has practically been scrubbed from the net thanks to angry feminists who werenāt intelligent enough to get it.
Itās kinda ironic cuz I used to hate techno, edm or whatever you wanna call it back when i was a teen, I was kind of a purist, didnāt consider it ārealā music, and i still think that of all rap actually, canāt really help that I canāt hear talking rhythmically into a microphone as music by any stretch of my imagination. Certainly doesnāt help that only one in every million rap songs has lyrics that arenāt absolute shit.
But the first two techno songs I recall ever liking were these two:
Then eventually I discovered synthwave, loved it and since a lot of those songs rely heavily on electronic sounds it mellowed me to the entire genre and most subgenres. I think it had something to do with realizing how old the concept of electronic music really is (and it is in fact even older than the 80s, goes back to the early 20th century.)
Then eventually i also realized the obvious parallels between it and electric instruments, like electric guitars and such. In hindsight it was hypocritical as hell of me to hate on it because my favorite genres at the time were hard rock and metal which rely heavily on electronic distortion techniques.
Iām listening to the FLAC as itās one of the first CDs I bought when I recently decided to start buying them again. I donāt own many but the collection will slowly grow!
I loved Tom Pettyās music from his very first album onward. But this song right here is criminally underappreciated.
Edit @UncleSpellbinder LRain was probably my top two on Damn the Torpedosāsimply lovely and the band really came through on this. His long time guys Benmont, Campbell, Lynch had a chemistry
Big Tomās deep cuts were better than his singles sometimes
and my all time faveā
The intro on that last one sounds so wild, like itās coming from somewhere else than my speakers lol.
Iāve been rewatching jojo, so that meansā¦

Iām only halfway through stardust crusaders, so I donāt remember what other cool ending songs they used for the new series and if they stayed on brand and kept using classics for them ![]()
But thereās admittedly a lot of awesome tracks in the ost as well. But If I had to pick one from the ones Iāve gotten so far, itād be this.
They never (as far as Iām aware) released the instrumental version of the song, and well, this woman wanted it bad enough that she just made a cover and tried to match the original as closely as she could, did a great job too. Problem is that the song that officially got released had this rap lyric over all of it that some people hated, me included.
And itās weird because the show itself almost exclusively used the instrumental version in the first place, I think they might have used the rap version one or two times, if they even used it at all Iām not sure if they did (not something I was paying attention to at the time).
But yeah, this is Joseph Joestarās theme, Overdrive. Heās my favorite jojo character by a wide margin, that goes for both young and old Joseph.
Edit: in response to @rich52 I raise you this timeless classic by nyango star:
you had me at Suzanna Hoffs ![]()
Years ago I saw Pete York drummin with Ian Paice in a wonderful little concert. About 350 people in the audience. Awesome! ![]()
