That’s what I use pamac for. But search only, don’t install through it. I have had problems with it as many others have. Try to use pacseek. But at the end of the day, yay and pacman have similar switches, so they are worth learning.
You claim to understand why there is no GUI software centre in EndeavourOS, but it is important for you to have one anyway. These two statements are at odds with each other, and the only thing I can genuinely suggest for you is to either look for another distro, or get out of your comfort zone and use the terminal.
Or we can pretend that Pamac is a useful, usable piece of software. But we would be lying, because Pamac is crap even on Manjaro, and doubly so on Arch.
That said, the notion that using the terminal is somehow “advanced” or more complicated or “not for rookies and newbies”, compared to the GUI, is utterly false. Using the terminal is actually very simple.
The only reason it seems difficult is the fact you are used to the GUI (thanks to windoze) and lazy to change your ways. But once you overcome that first obstacle, you’ll realise that there is nothing complicated about using the terminal (in fact, it is much simpler than the GUI). It’s just a different type of interface, one that is, by the way, very efficient and comfortable to use.
honestly if you just give yourself a bit of time to get use to the terminal way of doing things youll find its much more robust than most any of the GUI options.
There is no reason to fear the terminal or using terminal tools. In my experience terminal is less frustrating, faster, and simpler than a GUI for everyday maintenance and upgrade tasks. You end up with better feedback as to problems when they arise and more power at your fingertips. If you give yourself the opportunity to learn it youll be good in no time.
what would be perfect and what you want is called TUI (terminal UI). its a terminal app that has a small GUI.
for many apps such as pacman/yay, git, file search, filw browser etc a TUI is a perfect option - if you google ‘awesome TUI’ you will find a few github lists with lots of interesting options that will make your life easier.
Thank you !
