I don’t know if this is only on my side or it is something more general. So I put it here as well:

"Update Mirrors" tab not working in Welcome app

Hi, I don’t seem to get the windows to choose mirrors (etc.) when I click on the “Update Mirrors” tab in Welcome app (v3.4.5-1). This is on a freshly installed EOS-KDE (yaaay ). Running the app from terminal and then clicking on the tab doesn’t give anything. [welcome-app] If you need more info please let me know.

I already solved the issue. Some packages were missing on the fresh installation of EOS-KDE. Don’t know if this is something that needs to be looked into.

reflector-simple which brings along geoip and geoip-database .

Makes sense - that button launches reflector-simple.

It’s an optdep:

$ pacman -Si welcome
...
Optional Deps   : translate-shell: for generating a language translation for the User Interface
                  reflector-simple: for the Update Mirrors button
...

so it’s correct - it’s not necessary for welcome, but extends its functionality.

Thanks for the report! This is due to the Welcome code reorganization. Now reflector-simple is an optional dependency for the welcome package. Current ISO relies on welcome having reflector-simple as a “mandatory” dependency. In the next ISO the plan is to add reflector-simple to be installed separately of welcome.
