WD Red Ticking every second

Did you tell new owner that it was faulty? Because if you piss off buyer due selling them faulty drive without telling them, in some parts of the world you may end up getting sued to court.

If he complains i would take it back, end of story.

The hdd was running for 7 years vertical and i put it in the pc horizontal, maybe there was friction and now the lubricatin is where it needs to be and maybe that is the reason why it is silent again. Who knows. I guess non of us here is an expert and we all just make guesses.

Plenty of experts around here. We can only “troubleshoot” so well over the internet with you being a translator for the drive. Since none of us are actually there to see and hear what exactely is going on what else do you expect?

Personally I would NEVER buy a USED drive

You are right what did I expect.
Next time i will just leave it be and not let my anxiety create a thread. A few hours more waiting and the hdd would have been silent.

I will pic them up from the junkyard again and not buy used.

Several People informed you they felt the drive was damaged. Instead of taking it to a professional in your area you ignore that the drive could be bad and then you turn around and SELL it. Not a very honorable thing to do.

You are right selling it with the possibility of being faulty is dishonorable. I should have kept it until it dies.

Bringing it to a professional is a little over the top for a 90 bucks hdd, just my opinion.
