Virtualbox 7.2.10-1 Lockup

Just in case anyone else uses Virtualbox, my system just upgraded to version 7.2.10-1 from 7.2.8-2. After reboot, and trying to run the w10 vbox client, the machine does a hard lockup, making the screen look like CGA 8-bit, cycling the sound I had playing , totally unresponsive to any keypress.
I hard rebooted, reverted to the earlier version, rebooted and it runs fine.
Asus Rog Strix g531GT running nVidia 1650 GPU, i7-9750 CPU.
Linux onyxlaptop 7.0.12-lqx1-1-lqx #1 ZEN SMP PREEMPT Wed, 10 Jun 2026 13:07:34 +0000 x86_64 GNU/Linux

So looks like it’s barfing on the QT6 library libQT6widgets.

7.2.10 seems a bit b0rken here also.

I cannot start any VM because “Host API has not enabled SVME bit in EFER MSR.”

Nothing changed in bios/efi since 7.2.8. Had to revert as well. Kernel is 7.0.12 as well.

CPU is a AMD5800, mainboard ASUS prime with SVM enabled.

Hello all,

the hiccup is because the running kvm-kernel-module. Blacklising kvm_amd and kvm_ intel helps. But today there is a new -2-version of the virtualbox, so problem is vanished.

Confirmed. Virtualbox 7.2.10-3 is good.

Thanks, updated to the “extra” version, works here as well.
