Using makepkg to create .deb packages and repacking .deb for Arch

debtap is a script found in AUR that converts .deb packages to Arch packages - then you can just install them with pacman -u. I 've tried it several times and it has never failed me

debtap has a couple of critical weaknesses.

  1. It fails quite frequently. The most common reason it fails is dependency issues but it can fail for other reasons as well.
  2. Packages installed with debtap never get updated.

Using a PKGBUILD is more or less universally a better solution.

oh had no idea - in the last 3-5 years I 've probably used it 20-30 times and it has never failed me. No 2 I know ofc that’s up to you - the user

Thanks for letting me now
