USB microphone is detected, but it is not working

Hello there, I have this brand new usb microphone that came in today and when I plugged it in, it doesn’t output any sound. I tried it on a windows computer and it does work, but not on my computer. I actually don’t know what to do with this…

Try alsamixer.

I just want to clarify what you mean with that. I already have alsamixer but I’m not sure what to do with it. Thanks in advance!

Check that the microphone is not muted in alsamixer.
I had a similar problem.

Hello, it doesn’t seem like anything is muted however I am not so sure

I tried going into the lts kernel too but no dice. I even switched out the usb ports.
