Kinda late to the topic, but I feel sentimental about the original sample as it was the first wallpaper I used when switching to EndeavourOS.
I liked your rework as well, good job.

@UncleSpellbinder BTW why not upload at pling? I see uploads from @smokey only with https://www.pling.com/find?search=endeavouros&f=tags or https://www.pling.com/find?search=eos&f=tags tags.

There is one GRUB theme: https://www.pling.com/p/2138019/

To be honest, it never crossed my mind to do that. I’ll look into it. I have MANY wallpapers for EOS and a few other distros.

Awesome :love_you_gesture:
Maybe add some creative commons license at GitHub ?
CC BY-SA 4.0 which is also approved by FSF.

reference: https://www.gnu.org/licenses/license-recommendations.html#:~:text=%20If%20no%20license%20seems,different%20kinds%20of%20works

If no license seems especially appropriate, the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license is a copyleft that can be used for many different kinds of works.

GPL v3 and BY-SA 4.0 are similar licenses with similar aims. But because GPLv3 was written specifically for licensing software, it does have some differences from BY-SA, which are explained in more detail” at https://wiki.creativecommons.org/wiki/ShareAlike_compatibility_analysis:_GPL

I see at Pling page you mentioned they’re Creative Commons 0 (Public Domain), Nice.
@UncleSpellbinder BTW the images are taken from which source?

https://wiki.creativecommons.org/wiki/CC0_FAQ#Who_can_use_CC0.3F

if your work contains another person’s work made available under a CC Attribution license, you will need to identify that work separately, attribute the author and provide the license. Likewise, for any other license(s), you will need to ensure that you are in compliance before distributing the work. Of course, if you do not have permission to distribute a work belonging to someone else, you will need to seek appropriate permission from the copyright owner before you use CC0.

@smokey uses GPL3 (compatible with BY-SA). IMO think better to use CC BY-SA 4.0 (which is anyway similar to the software license GPL3).

They also recommend same

Because the GPLv3 is designed for software and CC discourages use of its licenses for software, there are special considerations for those seeking to take advantage of this compatibility mechanism.

@shuvashish76, I find images at various places places on the web. Including general UHD Image Search criteria…

  • NASA
    "NON-COMMERCIAL USE
For educational or informational purposesNASA content – images, audio, video, related media and files used in the rendition of 3-dimensional models, such as texture maps and polygon data in any format – generally are not subject to copyright in the United States. You may use this material for educational or informational purposes, including photo collections, textbooks, public exhibits, computer graphical simulations and Internet Web pages."
  • For smaller images and clipart to insert into larger images, Openclipart, HiClipart, PNGWing
  • With my DeviantArt account, I sometimes use their A.I. DreamUp.
  • Various wallpaper and image sites… 4K Wallpapers, Pixabay Royalty-Free Images, WallpapersCraft (which has a multitude of “free to use”, CC BY, CC BY-SA 4.0 images), Unsplash Public Domain Images, and other similar sites.

@shuvashish76, I’ve added the attribution to the README.md of my wallpaper repositories on GitHub. Appreciate the advice!

Thanks, also change the license at Pling, still shows CC0.
Sorry for nitpicking these minor issues and taking over this thread. In general nobody cares about license for such creative-works but I believe proper licensing of any-type of work is backbone of opensource, though I’m not a licensing expert…

I was actually on Pling as you posted here, it would seem. DONE.
