Unable to join EndeavourOS discord server

I haven’t been able to join the unofficial EndeavourOS discord server for over a month now.

What are the requirements to join it? How old does an account have to be in order to be accepted?

I think the discord server is “unofficial”. The Telegram group is what most people use.

I find such modern technology confusing

I have always wondered why Telegram is used instead of Signal? Because personally I am never going to use Telegram, as much as l like to be part of this community.

Totally agree with you. I’d much rather join a Signal group than make a Telegram account

I think answer is simle - “What is Signal?”
IRC server would be nice tho.

I’d advocate for an EndeavourOS signal group

I’m a member on the Unofficial EOS Discord server. And to be honest, it’s not very active.

As for Telegram, I never got the appeal. Granted, I’ve never used it, but it looks like nothing more than a texting app or messenger app. At least in the videos I’ve seen and from a couple friends who use it. I much prefer a forum or even an active Discord server.

Then there’s this…

I still prefer the forum, groups within the several messenger services would require an account. Due that reason, which also applies to discord, shared insights on these platforms won’t be accessible from the outside. Which is not the case for the discourse forum which still would be indexed by search engines and don’t require an account to access the individual forum threads that may contain useful information for 3rd parties.

to me, the only appeal some alternative to the forum has is, should the forum be down or have issues you can see on the alternative if its just yourself or if there is an issue with the forum server :man_shrugging:
sort of like a backup

IIRC, Signal has a limit on how many people can join a group or something along those lines? I think a Matrix room would be something neat, although… it depends how much interest there is to make an official Matrix room.

Last time I’ve used Matrix, the moderation tools were really, really lagging behind, like severely, plus the whole thing is just kind of heavy handed on the UX part.

It is unofficial, yes.

here you go …
