There are a lot of things that could cause those error messages and the right solution varies.

Can you describe what led up to this situation?

I’m not really sure what happend either. My guess is that I might’ve canceled some installation or removing process.

This either means it’s a symlink or the file has been truncated (0 bytes). If it’s a 0-byte file then you ran out of disk space and/or your filesystem has become corrupted at some point.

What made you decide to install plasma, are you trying to fix a problem or are you actually installing plasma for the first time?

On this eos install I’ve installed and reinstalled plasma a couple of times just for the sake of switching DEs.

Unfortunately, there may not be a better solution than using --overwrite \*.

Make sure your disk is not full and in good health as @jonathon suggested first.

I just did yay -S plasma --overwrite '*' and plasma works as expected now. thanks a lot, guys!

Also run a pacman -Qkk | grep ' 0 altered' to check for other packages with issues. If there are, either reinstall them, or if there’s a significant number then consider reinstalling.
