I’m not sure why you’re putting yourself through this. Other providers make it easier from the start.
If it’s because tunnelbear has free monthly bandwidth, then there’s both Windscribe (very generous amount at fast speeds) and Proton (unlimited but slow).
Probably not the answer you are looking for, but this is the real solution, even if you get it to work.
