Topic `a little joke` seems not available

We’ll just have to live with it. I think there are worse things. After a few thousand entries, nobody talks about a 5.5 year old topic anymore

Instead of locking the thread because of a known limit the forum software just says “go ahead, I will just break afterwards”?

This wouldn’t have happened with a PHP forum twenty years ago. Just saying. :stuck_out_tongue:

This is ridiculous. What kind of stupid implementation is this that a thread with a given amount of replies gets borked so badly that no one is able to read it anymore?

i’ve never been a “friend” of Discourse, but instead of fixing the problem posting a lengthy reasoning about their decission is awkward.

That being said - i don’t see why reaching a specific reply count should “kill” the topic, there are discussions at Discourse about an auto-closing option. Why have such an option when the topic goes bonkers even before this reply count is reached?

We do have 2 threads in the forum that do have more replies than the little joke. Both open without a problem. I think there seems to be a different limitation we ran into …

I wonder if it was because it was marked as solved?

You may be right. Both other threads are still open.

If one access the database, could the old thread have it’s “Solved” status removed?

first thing I found was response limits but it two years old so would not be surprised if this ainit it but would think maybe similar?

(this uses discourse I think not sure on that just guessed)

The thread count on the “a little joke” has gone up from 3 to 4. So someone is still able to post but we are not able to view it.

:crying_cat:

I noticed that as well. Every now and then, the old “Little Joke” thread shows as “unread.” It’ll show several new posts available to read. Clicking it shows the “Oops, RETRY” message.

Yep that is the behavior that I also observe.

Well time to move on. With a heavy heart :face_exhaling:

Yer new thread needed, add a date to title, like I do with wallpaper threads makes the new thread make sense (pretty sure someone doing this just noticedd it before but helps sepereate stuff too on other threads like desktop cos a lot that could be done can no longer be done but other stuff can be done

Like this huh?
