Forget everything you know about RGB, welcome to the world of Qt :

All rgba colors should be set between of 0-1, ex : `Qt.rgba(0.050, 0.100, 0.500, 0)` will result in something like this

 ![Copie d'écran_20250901_130135-1](https://forum.endeavouros.com/uploads/default/original/3X/6/6/663047cab990a51f7db10c4dda9b176cdcb40364.jpeg)

And blur will strongly impact the color render

 ![Copie d'écran_20250901_133436](https://forum.endeavouros.com/uploads/default/original/3X/d/e/de24e0db28084dfcd54c46f3f28564b56b9691ee.jpeg)

You can also replace rgba with hsla and hsva

That’s quite the mystery. 😅

### 🎨 How to Make an SVG Icon Adaptive (for KDE/Plasma Themes)

If you want your SVG icon to automatically adapt to the system color scheme (e.g., in KDE/Plasma), follow these steps. You can edit the SVG file in any text editor:

* * *

#### 1. **Add a `<style>` block inside the `<defs>` element with the exact ID `current-color-scheme`**

🔔 **Note:** The ID **must** be exactly `current-color-scheme`. Other values won’t work — I’ve tested this.

```xml
<defs>
    <style id="current-color-scheme" type="text/css">
        .ColorScheme-Text { color: #ffffff; }
    </style>
</defs>
```

* * *

#### 2. **Locate the `<path>` element(s) you want to make adaptive**

Find the path elements in your SVG that you want to respond to theme changes.

* * *

#### 3. **Add the `ColorScheme-Text` class to those `<path>` elements**

```xml
<path class="ColorScheme-Text" ... />
```

* * *

#### 4. **Set the `fill` property to `currentColor`**

Replace any hardcoded color (e.g., `#000000`) with `currentColor`, so the fill color is inherited from the class:

```xml
<path id="pathsample" class="ColorScheme-Text" style="fill: currentColor;" ... />
```

* * *

✅ That’s it! Your SVG icon should now dynamically adapt to the system’s theme colors.

Perfect tutorial 🤌

You can set multiple .ColorScheme in this block to use different colors. Available classes are :

```auto
ColorScheme-Text
ColorScheme-Background
ColorScheme-Highlight
ColorScheme-ViewText
ColorScheme-ViewBackground
ColorScheme-ViewHover
ColorScheme-ViewFocus
ColorScheme-ButtonText
ColorScheme-ButtonBackground
ColorScheme-ButtonHover
ColorScheme-ButtonFocus
```

@fog , thanks to your little secret, it got me wondering whether Inkscape has a Find & Replace feature.

When working on my Kvantum theme, I’ve been using the same method as you, replacing colors manually in a text editor.

Even when I need to add CSS styling while working with icons, I stick to the text editor.

Turns out Inkscape _does_ have a Find & Replace feature. Now I know. Thanks! 😄

Changing colors in SVGs isn’t really an issue when using a text editor. What’s more challenging for me is drawing vectors. I’m not great with numbers. Former math student here… with a very “ **E** ”xcellent result 😜

P.S. I didn’t want to spam the other thread, so I’m replying here 🙂

I am in a “modern environment” like kde, the last 6 months, before I was using mainly command line utilities. I was an openbox junkie with my own openbox themes.
To modify the various gtk themes to my “openbox colors” I was using for some time [geany](https://www.geany.org/) 's find and replace feature in session (with all the css etc. files open).

But before this, for many years, the [rpl -R command](https://linux.die.net/man/1/rpl) was my (THE) way. Simple, fast, all the files and subdirs in a folder, without Ctrl+S at the end. I was SPEED 😛

I tip my hat to this! Not a command-line junkie myself. 😅

Imagine this:
The year is 2011, you have the [any color you like](https://www.gnome-look.org/p/1012516) monochromatic theme or 2019 with the fantastic [DarK icons](https://gitlab.com/sixsixfive/DarK-icons/-/tree/master). A few thousands svg icons. You want to change the colors without config utilities. You don’t want to open 4000 files:
rpl -R #oldboringcolor #newsupercolor /here
Done.

PS. You don’t have to be “something”, only to be happy and have fun with your own choices 😉

I just discovered that Inkscape includes an XML Editor. You can access it via **Edit → XML Editor** , or use the shortcut **Shift + Ctrl + X**.

Looks like the new feature in **Plasma 6.6** will make things a lot easier for us, @perletero! 😍

Thanks mate, I now know how to trace an image and create an SVG from it. Here’s what I did:
I started with this image which is small resolution and poor quality:

 ![Original](https://forum.endeavouros.com/uploads/default/original/3X/a/d/adc4bc1945f3a7cabbeb2762845ccc0acc5ac3e7.jpeg)

First of all I removed the background using Gimp:

 ![Screenshot_20251125_025310](https://forum.endeavouros.com/uploads/default/original/3X/3/d/3da5f5f926cdea244ceaf6f4751e362face4caa1.png)

You can probably do this in Inkscape but I’m more familiar with Gimp for this kind of operation.
The image now has a transparent background and looks like this:
[![](https://i.postimg.cc/c6ykXSpR/Original-clear.png) ](https://i.postimg.cc/c6ykXSpR/Original-clear.png)

I want to make it a smooth and noise free scaleable SVG so I open the image in Inkscape using the following settings…

 ![Screenshot_20251125_164235](https://forum.endeavouros.com/uploads/default/original/3X/a/d/ad78c8f4e7ab3c72a9fa52bd7b7cf187684f33fa.png)

 ![Screenshot_20251125_164329](https://forum.endeavouros.com/uploads/default/original/3X/e/d/eded70a6bae2c96a67554088bbe9305f54696645.jpeg)

Time to trace bitmap…

 ![Screenshot_20251125_164455](https://forum.endeavouros.com/uploads/default/original/3X/9/9/9942dea6a3570569335f13fe622b55fcdd309767.png)
 ![Screenshot_20251125_164652](https://forum.endeavouros.com/uploads/default/original/3X/3/1/31b7cb17dde957c87b620e9b5c8c0eca1efccf7c.jpeg)

Adjust the settings to achieve the result you want…

 ![Screenshot_20251125_164743](https://forum.endeavouros.com/uploads/default/original/3X/e/7/e7f8756fb414799172a037f0ad4675f7a6922e46.png)

Click “Apply”

Now it’s time to export the image as a SVG…

 ![Screenshot_20251125_164926](https://forum.endeavouros.com/uploads/default/original/3X/f/0/f03cf45b92d1b5cee4419e3caecafefc46d9c565.png)

I used the following export settings…

 ![Screenshot_20251125_165118](https://forum.endeavouros.com/uploads/default/original/3X/d/3/d3c0b223850e6fcd953cd61cb15b9437e939148c.png)

I now have a lovely clear transparent SVG.
[![](https://i.postimg.cc/yddtkSbd/SFA_Out_Spaced.png) ](https://i.postimg.cc/yddtkSbd/SFA_Out_Spaced.png)
