Bryanpwo, you are the best.:grinning: I think this is the solution!

crony is not installed by default

It depends if you chose it during install of Timeshift, most people choose it, because it’s the default choice.

Should I have cronie installed before timeshift?
I installed it afterwards, I didn’t recall the option given during the install of TS…

Cronie was the default choice when you’ve downloaded Timeshift, unless you’ve checked the box Btrfs.

You have to enable cronie on Arch first with:

sudo systemctl enable cronie.service
sudo systemctl start cronie.service

After thimeshift will make automated backups.T

The options during the install are Btrfs and rsync, aren’t they?
I picked rsync, but this doesn’t automatically run cronie does it?

You would always have to enable the service with the above mentioned commands?

Sorry my fault, I meant rsync and for Arch system you have to enable cronie before you can use the automated option and you only have to do it once.

Okay, got it.

(I’e used TS on my Manjaro rig and didn’t recall having to run these commands, but Manjaro may have it installed by default, dunno…)

Thx!

They tweak all of their packages to make it work out of the box.
