ThinkPad - Time To Move To Another Distro (I Chose ARTIX)

I installed the dinit varian once more before moving to OpenRC. The same sound and Bluetooth issues occurred.

After installing the OpenRC variant, sound and Bluetooth worked as they should out of the box. Other than that, no real difference that I can detect.

Since I’ve been using SystemD for so many years, I have these bookmarked for reference:

Well that wasn’t what I was getting at (performance), but far more importantly compatibility! I just had the odd notion that they had it all worked out lol.

It could be something odd with the ISO, although I cannot say why two ISOs wouldn’t work for the audio and bluetooth. In theory I would think all the inits should work since they only manage activating the same audio and blutooth systems.

I use Artix with Dinit, although fully manual install, and everything I have that required services on SystemD on Arch works for me just fine on Artix under dinit. At least on dinit, the dbus, pipewire etc need to be ran in user level space and not root like the other services (unsure about bluetooth), another package manages automatically running as userspace, so I have no idea if there is some issue in the ISO to automatically do this for the individual user account but I would need to test that from the Dinit ISO.
