Hi, I’m Florian (Floggy) from germany and finally made my “lift off” this week from planet windows to the purple universe.
I tried linux many times in the last 15 years, but everytime i got back to windows because of the state that was more tinkering away than an “everyday os”.
And everytime i searched for new distros i got hit by a ton of toxic behavior and envy between the different kinds of distros… except the arch users. I don’t know but arch users are more friendlier than other users (yeah, I’m looking at u ubuntu!), so my desicion was clear, i switch to arch… and because i like the rolling release idea.
So this week i made a hard cut, installed endeavour without windows dual boot or an option to go back and I’m mostly happy with it. “Mostly” because it took me one day to get Lutris to run and 3 days for this piece of s*hit of a printer (an old brother) to get finally recognised in cups and the scan software.
But i choosed the hard way and renounce windows so maybe i’m not allowed to complain for now on
I can attest to you that I have only positive experiences with the OS and the members of the forum since 16 april.
My favorite part is to read a maximum of problem/solutions that are discussed and write them in my notebook for when I need to apply one.
My machines are super well supported with EndeavourOS
I wish you the best of great times with your free and “libre” programs
Hey man, if you got your printer working, you’ve done one of the most difficult things to do imo. It’s a horrible experience here. Other distros have it. We do not.
