System Freezes randomly overnight

There have been a few times now where my system is just frozen when I come to my PC. I do not have any Energy saving settings set on. No screen turn off, no suspend session. However, when I come back to my PC in the next morning, I turn on my monitor and the image doesn’t load, and the system wont generally respond so I have to do a hard/button reboot.

This has happened one time as well while in use.

Using journalctl -b-1, I don’t see a lot that makes it obvious. For example, this morning, the system stopped at 07:20:31, and I went to access my PC at around 9am. Below is two logs from the hour before the random freeze. I can’t see anything specifically that stands out as the cause.

What are the energy-saving settings in your Bios then?

Right now I am using ASUS mobo and for the most part I am using “Performance” based settings.

CPU Core Cache Limit - 255
Intel SpeedStep - Disabled
Long Duration Power Limit - 4095
Short Duration - Also 4095
Package Power Time Windows - 127
CPU C-State - Disabled

One thing I forgot to mention, this is after a fairly fresh install. I was using the December release install up until early April, at which point I re-formatted my entire system and all drives and installed the latest version. My prior install was not having this issue, so not sure what changed other than adding in a new SSD as a part of the process.

So there is nothing in your Bios settings, telling the system to shut down after a certain amount of time?

Not that I can see. And the system is “running”, basically it seems like Endeavor/Arch is just frozen. The computer itself is still running, fans blowing, etc. Its just that the entire system is frozen.

As mentioned, there was one time this happened in the middle of me using the system, and the logs were essentially the same. Its like the system just stops responding, and its new to this specific install.

Correct, per their docs

  1. MultiCore Enhancement (MCE) allows the CPU to run at the maximum turbo frequency on all cores, regardless of how many cores are in use. Typically, the boost frequency varies based on how many cores are being used.
  2. Long Duration Package Power Limit (P1) defines the maximum wattage the CPU is allowed to run when under sustained loads. By default, this is set to 4095W (unlimited), whereas Intel’s spec is 125W for the new 13th Gen CPUs.
  3. Short Duration Package Power Limit (P2) is similar to the P1 power limit, but is a secondary wattage that the CPU is allowed to hit for short bursts. By default, this is set to 4095W (unlimited), whereas Intel’s spec is either 181W (13600K) or 253W (13700K/13900K)

Reading your logs again, the wifi seems to repeatedly disconnect.

Can you post the output of

$ sudo lshw -C network and $ sudo inxi -Faz please for trouble-shooting any further?

Wifi is not in use so not sure whats going on there, I use the wired/ethernet interface.
