Nope the output configuration is built into sway. A benefit of Wayland. Or not because it changes per every compositor so you have know them all.
So how does one change the resolution and scan rate in Sway?
Pudge
If you look in ~/.config/sway/config.d/output you’ll see a example config. The steps consists of.
- Run
swaymsg -t get_outputsto get you output’s.
example output
Output eDP-1 'Unknown 0x057D 0x00000000' (focused)
Current mode: 1920x1080 @ 60.009998 Hz
Position: 0,0
Scale factor: 1.000000
Scale filter: nearest
Subpixel hinting: unknown
Transform: normal
Workspace: 1
Max render time: off
Adaptive sync: disabled
Available modes:
1920x1080 @ 60.009998 Hz
- Change resolution and refresh rate would be something like this in the actual config file.
output HDMI-A-1 resolution 1920x1080@60Hz
- For scaling
output HDMI1-A-1 scale 2
You put all them in one line too like…
output HDMI-A-1 resolution 1920x1080@60Hz scale 2
Have a missed anything please tell me!
This the AUR right? I thibk flameshot also works on wayland.
EDIT : Ignore me please
Swappy is in repo?
Oh! Nice! I didn’t know! Thank You! It didn’t used to be. Maybe I’ll switch to it!
try flameshot on sway in vm was not working totally
swappy seems bit bgggy or script is buggy … it starys in ram makes some fault
I am having issues with Sway. Can not add hungarian layout and don’t even know how to change the layout (referring to key combination) and yes I have read this https://github.com/OdiousImp2604/Sway-EndeavourOS/blob/main/.config/sway/config.d/input
Sorry for taking so long to answer you!
Sway sets the keyboard layout based on your locale. So that could be the problem?
You can also set the keyboard layout manually. Replace everything from input type : keyboard with below
input * {
xkb_layout “hu”
}
Theres a list of layouts and langauges here https://man.archlinux.org/man/xkeyboard-config.7
Woops: Edit read your other posts…I wonder why your locale isnt picked up…
This is a quick solution for now but could you give me your
locale -a
And
/etc/locale.gen
Thank You!
If remember right config take precedence ( no sure right word ) over locale is diff. It define on login so re login be needed.
contents os locale -a
C
en_US.utf8
hu_HU.utf8
POSIX
contents of /etc/locale.gen
Summary
Configuration file for locale-gen
lists of locales that are to be generated by the locale-gen command.
Each line is of the form:
where is one of the locales given in /usr/share/i18n/locales
and is one of the character sets listed in /usr/share/i18n/charmaps
Examples:
en_US ISO-8859-1
en_US.UTF-8 UTF-8
de_DE ISO-8859-1
de_DE@euro ISO-8859-15
The locale-gen command will generate all the locales,
placing them in /usr/lib/locale.
A list of supported locales is included in this file.
Uncomment the ones you need.

Input configuration
Example configuration:
You can get the names of your inputs by running: swaymsg -t get_inputs
Put your touchpad’s ID to replace “Touchpad-ID” (keep the quotation marks)
input type:touchpad {
dwt enabled
tap enabled
natural_scroll enabled
}
Read man 5 sway-input for more information about this section.

‘swaymsg input type:keyboard xkb_variant “$(localectl status | grep “X11 Variant” | sed -e “s/^.*X11 Variant://”)”’

After reloading sway config with above modification i received an error

Because of this i checked the contents of /etc/vconsole.conf

is there an option to make a live iso with Sway-EndeavourOS ?
thanks for the answer
There was a dev liveiso that had i3 as its base. That was more of a testing thing. I am not sure how good an idea to make one with sway as wayland has so many issues with nvidia.
@obitron
Welcome to the forum. Thanks for giving EnOS i3 sway a try, oops. I hope you enjoy your time here.
The post you wrote listing the contents of /etc/locale.gen is extremely long and they only way for a user to get to the next post is scroll all the way through it.
Here is a helpful hint that make life easier on everyone. Use details to hide large segments of code or file contents. Then a user has a choice of looking at it if interested or to skip over it.
Here is how it works
& [details = “title”]
a large reply
[/details]
Where “title” is a title for the details, such as [title = “contents of /etc/locale.gen”] and eliminate the & in front of [details = “title”] I had to include that so the command wasn’t actually executed.
It works like this
example
this is an example of how to give viewers a choice of skipping or viewing extremely long posts
Just click on the arrow in front of example to reveal the text.
If you have trouble getting this to work just indicate as such and myself or a mod will fix it.
This is not intended as a reprimand, just a helpful hint.
Pudge
Thank you. I take the advice. Didn’t knew that this is how it is done properly. Now i know !
Thanks the advice !
You are very welcome, enjoy the forum.
