Thanks for your reply, but none of them works. Tried also other ones but nothing changed. How have you inserted the right font the first time? If you can explain it to me I’ll try to do it manually and see. If that’s doesn’t works too I’ll reinstall and see if that fix it. I don’t have any other idea sincerely on why on my old installation everything worked and here not.

The fonts are in the waybar config and are copy pasted from the nerd font cheat sheet.

I was doing some testing on the arm install-script, and ran across this problem in Sway on a RPi 400. When hardinfo (System Profiler and Benchmark) is launched, it does not bring up a window, but the CPU usage in the bar goes to 100 % and stays there for a while. Then CPU usage goes back down to close to zero.

I tried starting hardinfo in a terminal window to see if a error code showed up. It still did not bring up a GUI window, but in the terminal I could see that benchmarks were being run. Hence the 100 % CPU usage.

During the course of the testing, a test install was performed on all 10 DE / WM available. This problem only showed up on Sway. The other 9 ran hardinfo as expected. At the end of the testing, Sway was again installed from scratch to see if this problem was a Fluke. This time on a RPi 4b 4GB. It failed in the same manner after the second install.

Maybe a config problem?

Hmmm. Weird. I’m not sure what the problem is. Is 100% CPU actually happening? Does the same problem occur with another system monitor? HTOP and Glances are installed?

Hardinfo is a GTK3 or QT app? Sometimes GTK3 apps take ages to launch on sway and that causes loads of background operation to run…

While the bar shows 100 % usage, I pulled up Htop and it said 100 % on all four cpus.

Oh? So it really is running 100%!

I’m really sure of the solution for now but that you very much for spotting it!

I was doing more testing on Sway this evening. My findings.

As for the hardinfo situation. I was looking around in the config files to get a feeling of what is going on. I looked in:
/home/username/.config/sway/config.d/Application_defaults
and did not see anything for hardinfo. Could this be part of the problem?

Going through the symlinks and seeing what they do, I found that clicking on the keyboard icon in the top panel, it lists modkey+p is activities. When I tried this, nothing happened.

This may be my problem and I will check into it. After an Arm install, in the home directory is the sway folder from the git clone. It was not removed after install was finished. I will look into it on my end. FIXED

I could not find a symlink for xed. So I added a symlink as such in
.config/sway/config.d/default
# Start xed
bindsym $mod+x
but in the left part of the panel, it did not reserve a workspace for xed like it does for terminal, firefox, etc. Not sure if this is even supposed to happen or not, just thought I would mention it. Should there be a symlink for xed out of the box?

I am beat, off to bed I go.

You only need stuff there if for example you want to float it or send it to a specific workspace etc;

I’ll test this now and see what the problem is!

Surely youll just have to add rm -rf sway to the end of the install script?

That may not be the best option as some people expect mod+x to close windows! I will add something tho!

I shall add that in a bit! Workspace 5 will be XED!

I can’t get Sway to work for me on v-box it just freezes up the v-box and the system. I also have to set acceleration off or mouse lags and cursor sticks here and there.

FIXED:
When at OdiousImp git hub site, the repository was named SwayEOS. At the new EndeavourOS-Community-Editions git hub site, the repository is named sway, I changed the repo name in the git clone line, but for some reason did not update the rm -rf SwayEOS line. It was trying to remove the SwayEOS partition which of course didn’t exist. All fixed now.

Same problem here with fonts. I’m investigating but I’ve not found anything to fix it for now.
