Steam client not booting (correctly) since updating

(KDE plasma)

After updating my system with yay a couple hours ago (although this may have been before then, haven’t opened steam in a couple weeks) I haven’t been able to open steam. It has the systray icon, comes up with the menu from that, has the taskbar icon that starts loading and then crashes.

I tried switching to an x11 version, this time it opened and the taskbar adjusted to the application, and then before any visual elements could load it seemingly killed itself, making the screen ‘wobble’ almost. Also made everything really laggy. Came back to Wayland to check again, this time it has opened but as a separate uninteractable/transparent window over Firefox, that when resized crops into itself. Really weird behavior.

If i try run it in terminal, it just comes out as so:

steam (my command)

~

Has anyone else experienced this/got a fix?

Nope

OK. Weirdly uninstall/reinstall didn’t work (tried before I sent this), but uninstall, shut down, restart did work. So I guess that’s the solution.

Edit: You seemingly can’t open it via the task manager/taskbar, if you do it completely breaks it and you have to fully shutdown the program to open via terminal, because opening in terminal after trying to open via taskbar doesnt work.
