Start the installer doesn't work on live boot

Hi good people,

I was trying to install endeavour today.Booting on live environment I was greeted by a box which contains Start the installer option. When I clicked on that,it flicks for a moment and disappeared. So the option didn’t work.

Without knowing your hardware, guessing I would say that it is a problem of graphics or the one that I prefer, because of the bad engraving or burning of the ISO. Therefore I would download the ISO again and re-record it, I always do it and it doesn’t give me problems with Suse’s ImageWriter.

It was good, also knowing your hardware to go debugging the problem → inxi -Fxxx0 or → lspci -k

lspci -k

My output
I used etcher to burn the ISO

Do not forget to check the iso with at least a sha1sum

Installer (calamares) will need some time to start, it is checking itself and system before starting.
I see two graphics controller Intel and Nvidia may Optimus and possibly deactivate one in BIOS.

@Minix Looks like you have the i915 Intel and Nvidia Geforce 920 MX. Are you using the latest ISO? endeavouros-2019.10.15-x86_64.iso

Yes I am using the latest iso

As @joekamprad Suggests are you able to turn off the Nvidia Graphics in the bios until after the install?

I would not assume right away that it’s gpu while whole DE is working properly.

I’d check if the process is running in background:
ps auxf
or is it exiting right after window disappears.
Sorry but I can’t remember calamares process name, and I cant check it right now, but it should be easy to track.

Also I’d look for log entries in journal:

  1. Before launching installer open up terminal and pass:
    sudo journalctl -f
  2. start the installer and see whats in logs, if you can please share them with us.

You can also try run installer from terminal what would give an error message if it is failing on something.

pkexec calamares -d
