Hello everybody.
I an using Spotify as my main music app on my android phone. I am interested in protecting my data and Spotify is the last proprietary app left and I am not able/willing to exchange at the time being.
I use RethinkDNS and now need some help or advice how to configure it properly to only allow connections really needed to hear music. Been tinkering by myself for some time but always ended up being frustrated cause it won’t work as wanted.
If there is someone with experience on that topic any help would be really appreciated.
Thanks in advance
Configuring this kinds of things to block everything that is not just the music is going to be a moving target. You might manage to get it to work, but next week they change something and you are back to square one. Your best chance is using the alternative clients(not sure if there’s one for android, only tried the linux ones). They use the API as far as I know, maybe the API has less tracking than the official app.
Also try giving more details about what doesn’t work.
(Huh I replied to this because it was in the latest column, didn’t realize it’s 3 months old…)

No problem for me, that you replied
Nobody else did.
As far as I know, there is Spotube for Android, but it works different and no good experience for me cause of lagging and such.
Spotify and RethinkDNS work, but I am not sure which connections to block and which not. Been tinkering for a while but are sometimes not sure if a connection is necessary.
But thanks anyway
