Spectacle unable to check or uncheck option boxes

I would like to know if anyone is experiencing the same bug from Spectacle. Since two or three updates ago, I’ve been unable to check/uncheck the some options when the program is launched. Once I hovered over those check boxes, the cursor became a cross instead of a pointer, unable to check or uncheck.

It seems that while the screenshot is being taken, those settings can’t be changed. I can’t confirm if that’s by design, or a bug.

To change them, take a screenshot and go to Edit…. Select that Rectangle tool and you’ll be able to change the settings at the bottom of the panel.

Now, when you take a screenshot, those changed settings will now apply.

no luck. Unable to change them regardless of what mode and stage. It used to work fine before the recent updates…sigh…life of Linux

If you don’t mind clearing the settings, you could remove its config file, in case there’s something in there that’s tripping it up:

rm ~/.config/spectaclerc

Perhaps more a trait of a cutting edge rolling release distribution

With the excitement of always running the very latest software, comes the excitement of dealing with the very latest bugs :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

That said, I wouldn’t say bugs are a typical feature, but they do crop up from time to time.

I’d updated perhaps an hour ago, and I’m not encountering this issue. Perhaps try updating, again?

Thank you for your patience. I did trying deleting that config. file before this post, no luck. But I still don’t regret ditching windows to defend our cyber freedom…haha…let’s see if future update will solve it.

Have you tried to set spectacle not to open automagically ?
Also Flameshot might be a good alternative

The latest update solved the problem.
