Sound on Thinkpad running Endeavour not working

I have a 7th gen X1 carbon Thinkpad running Endeavour that doesn’t play sound. In the volume area, it says 'no input or output devices found. See this image:
image.
When the Thinkpad was fresh out of the box (running windows), the mic and speakers did work. How should I approach this?

moving to newbie section…

What does alsamixer show?

What do you mean? I can’t do alsamixer -D because the computer doesn’t detect any devices. I’m not familiar with alsamixer.

If you type in alsamixer does it not show anything?

what does inxi -A show

Try this.

sudo nano /etc/modprobe.d/dsp-fix.conf

add the following line in the file

options snd-intel-dspcfg dsp_driver=1

To save the file ctrl + o =enter

To exit ctrl + x

Then reboot

Ok. (I like vim though)

I don’t know how to use vim… I like nano

Edit: So just create this file and add the line and save and reboot.
I’m not sure it will work? But try it!

/etc/modprobe.d/dsp-fix.conf

Add

options snd-intel-dspcfg dsp_driver=1

save & reboot

Ok.
Edit: The speakers work now, thanks.

Woo hoo!

Hm, the sound output now works (through the speakers), but the input doesn’t work. It’s not detecting anything from the mic.
