[Solved] Unable to log in after changing the login screen

Hi there!, I’m writing here because i have quite a dumb problem

Not so long ago I decided to change the login screen in KDE Plasma, but when I had to reboot for something, it wouldn’t let me in after inputting the correct username and password, with a message saying “login failed”; I tried seeing if i misremembered it, tried to see if i could do something during boot to help with that, and nothing

Apparently someone else had that same problem a while ago, but I don’t really understand the solution they found, or how to actually do it

What display manager did you switch to instead of KDE’s default sddm?

And just being curious, why would you choose to change the display manager?

I didn’t change the display manager, just the login screen with one of the default options in the plasma system settings (from breeze to maya), I dont’ remember any warning or anything like that when i did it

From the login screen, could you see if you can get into a TTY and test your credentials?

I’m able to, i’m instantly prompted to put in my credentials, but even after putting the correct ones it tells me that login failed just like with the login screen

Do you have a root account enabled? Same or different password?
If you have, from TTY you may be able to login as root user and change the password for your regular user. Perhaps that could help.

I was able to log in with root and found the problem that i had!, turns out it was just a dumb typo :woman_facepalming:

Thank you!, i’ll mark that as the solution
