[SOLVED] Better Blur only partially working?

Is this just how Better Blur works, or am I missing something? In the first 2 images (the application menu and the right-click menu), the background is blurred. In images 3 and 4 (Dolphin and App Store), no blur.

Do you use better blur together with the system blur settings, that will probably not work right. Also try this settings:

No

That’s exactly how I have them:

Just thought of something else I believe you use Klassy, there is a possibility they don’t “like” each other one way or another I guess.
But this link might help otherwise.

I thought the same regarding Klassy. Changed to Breeze. Same thing.

I also been having some issues with better blur. I have recompiled it as usual to work with the latest plasma 6.5.1 but i think the dev need to correct some bugs to make it work properly. The problem is that the dev has annouced he is not interested anymore so the code is stuck in limbo.

Better blur is working fine here after the usual rebuild. Or at least if there is a bug with it, I can’t see it  I set it to blur all except matching and leave the text field empty.

I see no mention of taj-ny abandoning kwin-effects-forceblur

if you are on the main issue board, it’s on the top right pinned. but here.

Since you’re using Breeze and I believe you’re applying window rules for transparency, you’ll need to add the classes in the Force Blur settings under Better Blur.

This is when I use Breeze with Better Blur.

I only switched to Breeze to test.

Well I tried with Breeze also and it worked exactly like it works with layan without adding all that stuff. So I don’t know :man_shrugging:

What blur strength do you have set in your settings?

I’ve been changing those to different values while trying to figure this out.

Got it! I’m just sharing what I know :slightly_smiling_face:
The results might vary depending on each person’s theme customization. I’m not entirely sure myself, either.

I figured it out! At least in my case. I disabled wobbly windows. All seemed fine. Rebooted. All seems to be working as expected…

Could also be dependent on screen settings what cpu and/or gpu you are using.
For the record I use a AMD 5 7600 with IGP. Screen is set on using 16 bit color.

Nvidia here. Plus, I now have the class field empty and checked blur all except matching. So far, so good.

Thanks for this, i’ll take a look at that because I also use wobbly windows (and NVIDIA). I have reverted to Breeze Dark for now as I had another issue that was probably related to the theme I was using. As for better blur, the settings were also not working. No amount of playing with them would work.

In my case, I don’t use Wobbly Windows, and this is what happens when I use Breeze without adding the classes to the Force Blur list.
