This painting of woman sitting in a cafe with glass of absinthe really touches me. There’s sadness and loneliness that is almost heartbreaking.
Artist: Edgar Degas, 1875-1876

Following the trail of Abstract Art and Jackson Pollock:

No. 5, 1948, Jackson Pollock

This is perhaps Pollock’s most significant and famous works.

It is an epitome of his signature drip technique, where he poured and drizzled paint onto a horizontal surface. The painting features a complex layering of colors, including browns, yellows, whites, and blacks, forming a dense, chaotic composition.

It is also representative of his all-over style, where the paint is applied uniformly across the canvas, creating a sense of depth and movement. A technique which emphasizes the act of painting itself, aligning with the principles of Abstract Expressionism movement, reflecting the movement’s focus on spontaneity, emotion, and the physical act of creation.

That reminds me of Where’s Waldo. I couldn’t find him though.

My favorite art happens to be my own creation :slightly_smiling_face:
An Intarsia piece I made about 15 years ago. It’s maple, bass wood, western, and red ceder, and it took me several months. Oh, and the beak, foot, and branches are walnut. Forgot about that.

That’s really cool

The term is traditional art, not analog art. and digital art is no less real than traditional art, it requires the exact same level of effort and skill to do right. The only real difference is that you don’t need to wait for the paint to dry and erasing your mistakes is more straightforward. (But for an artist beyond a certain level of skill, that last part really doesn’t matter all that much, at a certain point artists all have to learn to roll with their mistakes more often than not because it will often lead to better results than fixing them will)

There was one or two traaditional artworks that caught my eye but i forgot the artist name and the artwork names too (guess it wasn’t really that memorable after all)

Since some others seem to have not taken the hint about no digital art though i suppose I can link some.

My favorite digital artist, elsevilla:
This artwork in particular holds a special place for me because inspired me to try my hand at drawing myself, although I eventually dropped it for other pursuits (after getting kinda far to be honest), i’ll always remember this artwork. It was hard to find because it’s been removed from the deviantart gallery.

here are my second and third favorites by him:

There’s also bcnyart who is great:

And just to name a third, i’m also a big fan of guweiz:

PS: All the works posted by @Bink and @erne.d.98 so far were amazing too

Ya know, when i’m in the mood for cute anime girls (culture ftw!) there are 3 artists that stand out for me.

Since it’s edging on nsfw i’m gonna spoiler tag it.

Art

Lerapi (interestingly she’s female, I believe sakimichan is female too although i’ve always felt sakimichan’s artwork’s been lacking something):

cutesexyrobutts:

And although he’s never been all that active imo, something about Zeronis’ artwork just speaks to me:

Anime style, as in the actual style used for anime doesn’t do much for me in general, I appreciate it in animation, but not in individual artworks.

It’s mostly just the fact that anime style is designed to be simple, quick and easy to draw explicitly for the purpose of being useful for animation, it’s a mass production oriented style, quality is generally not a factor that’s considered when drawing in this style, it’s all about speed (as in how fast you can draw it). Because if you’ve got 20 minutes of animation to make in a week’s time, you gotta work really freakin fast.

But I do like styles that blend it with higher quality more realistic styles (particularly of the painted variety) as you can probably tell.

I can’t help but wonder… Why is she flat? The gentoo mascot is a literal cow! :cow2: :cow:

I don’t know why either. If she had some bigger breasts, I might have given Gentoo a try

The first piece of art you gave is a bit much for me, but the rest are good. Some are very good.

Somewhat NSFW, I guess?

the first one is too much? It’s the least nsfw of them all except the first zeronis one though

I guess you just have a dirty mind huh? :flushed:

I guess you could say that, yeah. You know, my current pfp is with an anime girl from an eroge named Aokana, so…

This is a painting I have in my lounge room, I got it years ago from when I was in a program to help me better my life.

If you, like me, consider and appreciate architecture as an art form, then you may also find the works of Zaha Hadid to be among the most artistic architectures in existence for her creativity, artistic imagination and aesthetic outlook.

Here are a few examples:

Heydar Aliyev Center (Baku, Azerbaijan)

Galaxy SOHO (Beijing, China)

MAXXI (Museo nazionale delle arti del XXI secolo) (Rome, Italy)

The Marin County Civic Center, in California, was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright in the late 1950s, and Wright completed the plans before his death in 1959. Construction of the Civic Center started in 1960 and was completed in 1962. I visited the Civic Center decades ago, and its impact on my aesthetic architectural sense continues today.
