For me its not about how often I look at it. Its the learning how to do it how it makes me feel when I get things lined up right finally or when I find that dang syntax error. It’s that since of not only accomplishment but confidence and pride as well.
Speaking only for myself here. It allows me to be creative and to change the things I wish to change. To get things to look a certain way so there is also some control issues behind it. But isn’t that what we made this things for? So we can control our own world? Today It looks one way tomorrow another. I also take pleasure in my accomplishment.

Well I finally uninstalled the XFCE that I had at start since I was basically only using my Openbox session that I installed along side it. Now I only have OB and I think I finally got it tweaked to how I want it. I am still playing around with some minor things that will no longer impact the visual aesthetic. I like to keep it simple so just Openbox with Tint2 to hold applications and to give me a button for a menu (although everything I use is on a keybind). I did recently install JGMenu which is pretty slick. Better than using the XFCE Whisker Menu IMHO, but that could just be me.
still basic look. took conky’s and rewrote them now there is just 2. Redid backgrounds for each conky.
I haven’t posted anything here in a while - mostly I guess because I don’t change that much anymore! I’ve been pretty happy with my current background (thanks antechdesigns), and setup, and most of my conkys. However, under the principle that anything worth doing is worth OVERdoing, I’ve put all the schedules for things I follow (hockey, baseball, car racing) on vertical smooth scrollers on the secondary monitor to save having to go look them up!
Actually, they don’t ‘catch the eye’ unwanted, they usually have ‘stuff’ over them, and they do the job when the thought strikes (Did I set the DVR right?).
It is amazing how much of what I ‘code’ comes down to being lazy in that special computer-oriented way…
Nice looking conky’s I am really digging that astrology one
