ah yes, looks nearly identical

Coming from I3WM, those lua files are a hassle though…

finally managed to change icons and accent colors, to better match the EOS colours…
But litterally everything sits in different folders and files, quite annoying…

To be fair though, haven’t taken the time to properly read any documentation on Awesome, guess I’d better do that first, instead of complain about it

Edit: After a lot of trial and error, I think I nailed to coloring now, together with the firefox theming:

Yeah wel I have been searching for a middle ground between something like i3 and a full DE…
something that provides best of both worlds…

While this is by no means 100% what I’m looking for, for now it seems like the best candidate for me

Has anyone seen the new instant os it looks interesting
It’s based of dwm (very loosely)
And it’s meant to be super easy to configure… No more delving super deep into files

That’s very Nordic of you.

I have it set up in a VM. It’s very clean and nice, I certainly like the look. It’s a nice combo between pure tiling and the normal handling of windows (ie. it tiles the windows, but you can minimize them to a bar). I didn’t do much with it and didn’t mess with config yet either.

Just thought I’d throw in the current state of ‘another distro’ - in case you don’t make it over there to see it

Actually did and ran G for a while . I became disillusioned when I could not uninstall Privacy Badger I found it distasteful that an add-on was forced in the install, and it could not be uninstalled by available info through Firefox.

I use another browser (mainly) so I hadn’t noticed that. Should think at worst you could install a different ‘version’ after an uninstall, though…

They are pretty responsive if ask to to disable something, too…

Is that astrolabe thing a conky? Looks super cool, whatever it is.

i3: Basic yet for advanced users only

Pretty much anything your aren’t sure of it’s origin is running through conky. In that case, the astrolabe (and the ‘daynight’ display below it) are both running a conky script that uses Conkywx, and these items feature in it. It is mostly lua-based scripting, so it can be tweaked too…

conky-cairo and conkywx are both in the AUR, btw - and I recommend ensuring that lua is up to version 5.4, and editing the PKGBUILD for conky-cairo to either pull 1.11.5, or higher - then let it build against lua 5.4 for best results (like speed).

Probably more answer than you needed  but there it is. You will note that the time of day, and the house of the Zodiac are all displayed on the astrolabe, together with the rise, set and transits etc of the sun and moon.
