But I did in fact add a lot more appz to my dock. Mostly just love showing off my system. Love EndeavourOS. It is endless hours of fun & eye candy.
I got rid of the text label EndeavourOS on simple application launcher, got ride of the date on my clock on my top panel, adjusted the top panel to a smaller size but still made sure everything is eligible. I guess that is it.
I have yet to make/create my own icon set or theme, but it sounds like a fun endeavor
I am currently using Korea icons and the Dracula theme for my setup…
Hope you’re doing well @dirn/friend! Bout to get ready and go get myself some food.
TTFN!
EDIT: just found the Dracula theme for VLC media player as well. gonna download/apply it later today! Cannot stop customizing my stuff, HEHE (so frickin fun)
Sometimes, just sometimes, I wonder if people ever reach the point of actually using their computers. I mean, apart from trying lots of distros, checking out different DEs and DMs, changing wallpapers, and losing themselves in the zillion theming options.
Personally, I tend to use whatever the OS comes with, maybe set another wallpaper, that’s mostly it. I mean I love that we get choices, and can surely see the fun in tinkering, so no offence.
Maybe that’s because I have to work not just on one, but on many machines. A “standard” setup is more easy to support.
Well, what happened in my case was that I wanted to play games, but then I noticed something I could tweak. In the end, I ended up spending more time tweaking than actually playing! I guess this is the curse of using Linux! This never happens when I’m on Windows.
Of course, this only happens on my personal machine. As for my wife’s laptop, I just leave it as it is—LOL!
Wouldn’t be too sure about Windows… I remember times when we all tried to make NT or Win7 look and behave like a fully-functional Star Trek LCARS machine…
I have a standard setup that I use, it’s tweaked but I always do it the same. Then I discovered conky and now I’m technically using my computer to program in bash, python, and lua, but really I’m still just configuring it!!
agreed! my old EX buddist friend used to say i customized my computer to much but he forgot IT IS MY COMPUTER. i do use my computer as well for a ton of different things but that’s what separates it from mac & win (which intentionally limit your ability to do what you want) IMO
i find the whole customizing your computer to much thingy annoying TBH maybe cuz my old/ex friend always harped on me so much about it. i don’t understand why it bothers people so much (tweaking my computer)… it seems odd
Second… Once I fresh install Linux for the first time, I theme it as best I can to my liking. Sometimes that initial theming (fonts, window decorations, Plasma theme, Klassy, Kitty/Fastfetch) may take time. But I so enjoy it.
Third… Once initial theming is done after a fresh Linux install, I do use my computer for typical work scenarios (or gaming).
Fourth and final… Any theme tweaking that takes place later is done quickly as the main theming is already set. Just minor adjustments and such.
BONUS… The absolute beauty of the Linux world is that you can use your machine (or dive into theming) as you see fit. CHOICE. Something we all know Windows/Mac sorely lacks.
I like it cuz noone is gonnna mistake my computer for anyone else’s setup. I cherish my uniqueness personally.
Going to take dog face outta the bathroom & go grab a bite to eat.

PS: before I go… I managed to walk and chew gum at the same time, so to speak. Multitasking is not usually my forte but I manage on my computer somehow. I not only customized my computer, but I did so to use it as well (watch movies).
If the desktop environment layout (e.g., KDE Plasma) feels awkward or disrupts the smooth movement of the pointer across the screen—or if a panel dropdown overlaps the control area of a maximized window—I adjust the panel dimensions accordingly.
On very high DPI monitors, I tweak font sizes so my aging eyes can still comfortably read the text.
As for wallpapers, I refresh my setup each week, curating a new combination for my dual monitors to keep the User-Machine interface visually engaging and free from monotony.
