So I got a new laptop (Intel I7 8th gen, Nvidia RTX 2070), installed Endeavour with plasma on it and most things work fine using x11 and the unfree nvidia driver. Now there is one strange thing happening. The display will be deactivated after a certain period of inactivity whis is absolutrely okay and intended behaviour. When the display is reactivated, everything is purple. The only way to get rid of that purple is to reboot the system. Any ideas how to fix this?

Get an AMD video card ? Or look at other drivers that may or may not perform better?
I believe this to be a feature

Look and follow point 10.
I am using a laptop that cost me approx. 1200€, “getting an AMD video card” would require to buy another laptop. An there are no working other drivers for my gpu. And I do not want to have any fundamentalist free vs non free driver discussion.

Did you see my post? I have a Lenovo Legion with an RTX3070 - works here!
Yes, I saw your post, followed the steps described in point 10, rebooted, but still get a purple screen when it wakes up.

It’s simply true that if you want to run Linux, you’re better off with AMD (and/or possibly Intel). Things to think about when purchasing hardware.
Did you run reinstall-kernels?
As I said, I don’t want to discuss ideological topics here. I have been using Nvidia under Linux since 2007. Over and out.

When I try to run reinstall-kernels, I get a command not found error message.

Apologies, should have asked grub or systemd?
