RoRo's Question(s) of the Day

Nothing too spectacular…

A couple of times I was baking a cake or potatoes and fell asleep only to wake up to a house full of smoke and baked charcoal instead of cake or potatoes.

I once added cheese to Mornay sauce that’s been too hot and it split into a greasy mess. But that can be easily fixed with adding a bunch more butter.

Once I made pizza with rotten cheese, because I had a cold and couldn’t smell it. I should have tasted it, but for some reason, I didn’t.

I sometimes forget an ingredient and realise when it’s too late.

I cook a lot, and make mistakes a lot. It’s unavoidable. Most of them can be salvaged, though, cooking is quite a forgiving activity.

when i was younger, i sometimes experimented in the kitchen and once i made a delicious sauce for the pasta and thought i could spice it up with blue cheese. unfortunately the sauce ended up in the trash  :face_vomiting:

Had a delicious plate of homemade spaghetti in front of me. I grated Parmesan cheese all over it. Only to realize on first bite it wasn’t Parmesan cheese…it was white chocolate. In the garbage.

Had a bunch of friends at our cabin in the woods. Had a spaghetti dinner and one guy brought several mason jars of homemade apple sauce. Watched someone fill a bowl with apple sauce, dump a ton of cinnamon on it, take a bite … and only then realized he’d picked up the can of garlic powder instead of ground cinnamon! … We still give that guy crap about it to this day.

I like to cook and almost all that I cook tastes good to great, but I like to do some experiments at kitchen: bittersweet chiken, orange chicken, boneless with tamarind sauce or just grab anything available at the moment.

Well, one day I’ve got chicken, strawberries and some other ingredients and the result was… how can I tell?.. uh! Kids, don’t do this at home, please!

Melting a copper pot bottom

At school we had a cooking class. The day the teacher was eating at our table we had to make the dessert some kind of cake or creme brulee. I messed up and used salt instead of sugar. Teacher ate a full bite and couple of minutes in realized that that thing was like eating seawater and spat out everything. My grade for that dish was not an A :innocent:

What’s your biggest screw-up in the kitchen?

The time I marinated the chicken for Kung Pao Chicken in baking soda instead of corn starch.

Recently, I had the oven at 250 degrees and the sour dough bread slices became crunchy like crotons which was not a bad thing!
