RoRo's Question(s) of the Day

Follow the advice of internet and YouTubers to install Elementary OS. I was a beginner and wanted to put Linux on my old laptop to revive it. It was such a horrible experience, wifi wouldn’t connect, no apps installed. Flatpak not enabled by default even though they use flatpaks for everything. No systemtray, no minimize button.
Many people recommend Elementary OS as a good beginner distro but I disagree with them. Luckily I found :enos: after two days struggling there.
I find :enos: far more beginner-friendly. Things worked out of the box for me.
A beginner-friendly distro should have a traditional desktop environment in my opinion. Something like KDE, Xfce, Budgie and Cinnamon is a must. DE should have a minimize button.
Now I don’t take people who recommend distros like Elementary to new users seriously anymore.

“Find a job that you love, and you’ll never work a day in your life.”

I love my job. It’s exhausting and I hate I’m probably going rack up enough hours to retire twice before I’m dead.

I wish someone told me when I was a kid to go to college for something that pays exceedingly well - like an engineer for instance. I’d rather work 40 hours a week, or make exuberant money and be able to retire early or travel more instead of love going to work 50-90 hours per week and love what I do.

And I do love my career. . . but burnout is real and it has happened a number of times and I’m not even 40 yet. . .which is good because I probably have like 50 more years go at it.

    :expressionless: :face_with_diagonal_mouth: :confounded:

note: I really appreciate and like the question of the day. Thanks for starting this.

My pleasure!

Today’s Question of the Day!

What’s the best Wi-Fi name you’ve seen?

“SaggyArse”

Oh… and I also saw “h0n3yp0t” once but didn’t dare try to connect

Not true…look for my previous answers.

And to appease @pebcak in case I did not answer ALL the questions…smh…

We order this style of pizza constantly from Domino’s! We use to live in Hawai’i so this is the closest we can experience to being back in Hawai’i than flying back there.

You can trust doctors and the media. I’ll leave it with that.

I have a neighbour whose password is the WiFi name. It is nice when my AP is on the fritz or when I messed up my pihole/wireguard setup.

My top five:

  1. Put God first and read the Bible.
  2. Just because other people are doing something, you don’t need to conform.
  3. Learn to ask questions and question authority.
  4. Situations may get hard for you yet remember that obstacles make you stronger.
  5. When you are 16, there will be a tempting question asked of you…say ‘no’…you will not regret saying ‘no’ and the outcome will be far better for you.
