Replace power-profile by TLP - experiances?

Just found some older threads, but searching for somebody, who really did it:
I’m thinking to replace the default power-profile-daemon, so I’m able to limit the bat-charging to around 80%, as I’m most of the time on AC, and do not want to kill the battery too quickly…
Afaik the power-profile-daemon cannot do this.
But I want to keep my well running functions, like suspend, hibernate etc. and I am very unsure, what will wait for me this way…
My ASUS notebook in running XFCE, 1x EOS & 1x Debian (dual-boot).

Someone has had success on this?
