Reminiscences

In 1981, I got a job working for a largish grinding wheel manufacturer as the management accountant, I ended up as the IT manager as well, after the guy that wore that hat left.

There were two ICL system 10s and one (eventually two) system 25s, plus my first computer that ran CCP/M and had 16kb of memory. It ran SuperCalc and had Dbase II on it.

Found this interesting article this morning:

by the System Ten/25 product line marketing manager. Long time ago

In 1981, I was at school and occasionally getting to use the solitary ZX81. I’d heard of ICL, but never saw one of their machines in the flesh (erm metal?).

Found this close up image:

We had something similar to this, but do not remember them being called “DRS”.
