Yeah I used to own one but thy didn’t really get good until the Live series.
I currently have a Sound Blaster ZxR in my Media PC(I use a Fosi K7 DAC for my Gaming PC).
I’m not sure this really appreciates what came before the SoundBlaster 16.
The SoundBlaster 16 was revolutionary, because it was the first time we could experience CD quality audio, on the PC.
Prior to that, we had only 8-bit audio, or simply the onboard PC speaker!
“beep boop”
The SoundBlaster 16 wasn’t just good in its day, it was game changing.
The models that came after improved MIDI quality substantially, allowed for more sounds to be played simultaneously, and added some environmental audio effects, but the SoundBlaster 16, I think, represented the most important step in audio quality.
I remember cord phones that hung on the wall that you could stretch into another room. . .
Fond memories, here today gone tomorrow.

Heheh, I’m still living in the past. I still have a home phone and it is entirely corded ![]()
It is natively a VOIP phone though… so it’s only pretending to be vintage ![]()
