HI may help someone key XF86Tools = Fn+F9
groups.append(
ScratchPad(“scratchpad”, [
# define a drop down terminal.
# it is placed in the upper third of screen by default.
DropDown(“term”, “/usr/bin/termite”, opacity=0.88, height=0.55, width=0.80, ),

    # define another terminal exclusively for qshell at different position
    DropDown("pyradio", "alacritty -e pyradio",
             x=0.05, y=0.4, width=0.9, height=0.6, opacity=0.8,
             on_focus_lost_hide=True)
]), )

keys.extend([
# Scratchpad
# toggle visibiliy of above defined DropDown named “term”
Key([], ‘F12’, lazy.group[‘scratchpad’].dropdown_toggle(‘term’)),

sorry I don’t understand what you mean?

switch between group alt + tab
if you set for example open browser group 2 and mpv group 6 will skip all empty
that all

is the dependencies for Qtile aimed at minimal footprint or success rate to work in all machines.

looks a lot but i may be completely wrong. it seems we are missing better methods and it was a surprise to me that it can run without display managers.

Most window manager can be run without a display manager. But its just easier to have LightDM present list of users, let the user change session etc. LightDM isn’t a really heavy dependency.

hiya flyingcakes, understood, but the dependency list is big. may be it was required when we began the community edition. can you have a relook

glib2
libgcrypt
libx11
libxcb
libxdmcp
libxklavier
pam
polkit
xorg-server
xorg-xmodmap
xorg-xrdb

Are the dependencies that are not optional or required to make the package, it’s nothing. And most of those packages are required by other packages anyway.

If you want to not use a DM, your choice, but a DM is useful to most people.

confused this as a dep list. should be thought as opinionated list of packages to provide a pleasant experience for new Qtile users. got it now. thanks a lot for your patience.

That is the community edition devs choice of packages, nothing to do with lightdm, if you don’t want/need any of them, remove them.

i was using the EOS before the release of community edition. I tried to install nixOS and in process made a blunder in fstab. could not get in. reinstalled EOS and installed EOS Qtile on it. what a treat man. its so beautiful. Thanks EOS team

Since qtile edition of EOS is no longer available, what’s the easiest way to get the pre-configured qtile running on a fresh install of EOS?

Easiest way is to go r/unixporn and pick some config that you like. You can install qtile besides of i3 if you don’t want to do whole install manually.

Oh, very cool. Does this mean that qtile will return to endeavouros?

I am unaware of any plans to bring back community editions. This is do to the fact that we have no one to maintain them on a regular basis. Which is why they were removed to begin with

He personalizado mi Qtile en diferentes distros, les comparto mi personalizacion aunque faltan ajustes
