I have sorta a question about my own wallpaper I created in GIMP. How come the EOS logo is transparent. I did not want it that way. I want it to not be transparent TBH. I donât understand all I did was drop and drag from the folder onto gimp. Then I simply centered it. I donât remeber altering the transparency and donât even know how. OH WELL I still like it just not as much as if it were solid. If no one knows the answer to this itâs okay as well. LOL Figured it could not hurt to ask though. I might google this LOL I bet it will answer my question somewhere as well. I shall do this.
Regardless IDKW but I really do LIKE my own creation here⌠this wallpaper turned out GREAT IMO⌠regardless of the transparency.
TBH I am still kind of confused after googling it but I am gonna keep searching I am sure I will find my answer somewhere on the net. Regarding transparency and images in GIMP. it has gotta be there lol
I figured it out! woohoo!
I am pleased
How I accomplished this was:
layer - transparency - alpha to selection - opacity
that was driving my nuts TBH now I need to do these all over again LMFAO not tonight I am to tired to redo all of these.
I dig it
I think itâs a result of the filetype being imported, though it would be hard to say without knowing the edit and import history. Are you making these in 2.10 or 3.0?
THANK YOU ~ PURPLE FRIEND!
I am glad people enjoy these.
if i am in a rolling realse why do i have 2.10? is it because that is what i got from the aur? IDK i was just guessing⌠just curious
idk if you even know the answer to this question HAHA if not itâs cool too
GIMP 3.0 is available as a release candidate, but isnât an official release yet. Itâs possible to build it (or install a binary) from the AUR that doesnât conflict with 2.10, if you want to give it a shot. Right now, to my knowledge, the only distro that defaults to 3.0 is Fedora 41+
cool i think i may do that! thankx 4 the info
This is gorgeous!
@whitewolfAK47, you should really look into image hosting for full resolution sharing. While I use GitHub, there are other places from which to share. PostImage is a decent one that will allow you to share a link to full resolution without loss due to uploading to the forum.
EXAMPLE:
- I took the liberty of upscaling one of your wallpapers to 4K. Full resolution, hosted at PostImage:

Think it might be where you got the logo from, i have set transparency when needed/wanted
Yes it would make these accessible to a lot more people
